[ weiss does shift in her seat to make herself more comfortable. then her eyes wander to en's, looking at him awkwardly. then she looks away to fix her hair, placing most of it at the front of her shoulder by her chest.

when at atsushi chimes in, she can't help but be a little playful. ]

En doesn'f look like an old man.

[ ah... ]

[ En is trying to figure out why she's looking at him like that, wishing she'd just spit out whatever was on her mind instead of glancing at him like that, but-- ]

...What?

[ Even here, in a completely different world, rumors of his old-looking face have spread! En reaches up to touch his own face gingerly with his fingertips, his gaze locked on Weiss in abject horror. He wants to ask who was saying he looked old, but the only culprit in that case would be Atsushi.

But.

It didn't mean it was Atsushi. Maybe there aren't rumors. Maybe people can look at him and his face and immediately notice his droopy, sanpaku eyes and long face and see that by the time En turns 19 in a little over a month, he'll look like a teenage boy with the face of a 60-year-old. He can't decide what's worse: Atsushi spreading rumors or his face being noticeably old to everyone. What if Weiss takes it further? He asked "what," so maybe she'll tease him about how he's hard of hearing, too.

Just kill him now. Everything is such a pain in the ass!! Someone end him and put him out of his misery. ]

[ Atsushi turns around quickly when he hears the words come out of Weiss's mouth. The kettle he was using to make the coffee falls out of his hand and hits the floor with a loud clang.

WEISS HOW COULD YOU. DO YOU KNOW THE DRAMA YOU HAVE UNLEASHED?!]

[ only it was atsushi, and weiss had been curious to see en again after her told her that! weiss was completely serious when she said that, though, which makes her wonder why atsushi's freaking out and en is experiencing some kind of crisis because of his face. ]

It's not a big deal, [ she tells en. ] You don't.

[ and okay... maybe she wanted to see what atsushi would do if she brought it up, too.

the kettle isn't forgotten, though. (EVEN THOUGH I ACTUALLY DID.) if it isn't spilling then weiss actually gets up to pick it up. but if it is, then she actually becomes tense again and lifts her feet up by an inch just so the coffee doesn't touch her. ]

[ En brings his knees to his chest and wraps his arms around them, pathetically leaning over to the side so that he's partially hanging off the arm of the couch. ]

Ah.

[ Maybe he should consider plastic surgery...... But that's expensive and he's just a high school student. Or... was? He's been here long enough that he would have graduated by now. He's having a midlife crisis and he's only 18!! Probably because he's also very talented at only hearing what he wants to hear sometimes. ]

[ For a moment, he wonders if he was being used as a distraction like Weiss wanted, but it's only for a moment because any longer than that takes energy he doesn't have. ]

So you said you were having a difficult time..........?

A-ah... thank you Weiss...

[ He takes the kettle from her hands and luckily nothing poured out. He pours a cup for En and gently ruffles his hair in an apologetic manner before heading back to the kitchen to get the tea started. ]

[ en can sulk all he wants!! weiss did nothing wrong. (nottalking)

the question brings her back to reality though, and she flops back on the couch with a pout. ]

I kind of got into a fight with a friend. Then I gave him some chocolates to apologise but he gave it back to me.

[ so yeah!! she's bitter and she's venting.

...Did you taste the chocolates before you gave them to him? There was a guy who practically poisoned a bunch of people around Valentine's Day because he made them so poorly, so if they tasted bad that's one reason he might give it back. It doesn't mean that he gave them back because of your argument.

[ Despite being bossy and asking for the coffee (without a "please," no less), En doesn't even touch it. ]

Atsushi could hear the conversation from the kitchen area so it wasn't like he was being left out. He chimed in as well.]

Or maybe he felt like the fight wasn't too big of a problem, so the chocolates weren't necessary? Like everything was already fine?

[ He laughs sheepishly. ]

I didn't make the chocolates, but they should be fine since they were store bought!

[ more venting!! she doesn't mean to raise her voice. she's just incredibly frustrated and upset. ]

If everything was fine, then he would have told me. [ a beat, then she pouts. ] I may have walked out on him in the middle of our argument.

[ En's quiet for a moment, then shifts into a proper sitting position. ]

...Mm. That's not always a bad thing, you know. Sometimes it's better to walk away and cool down. Otherwise, you might say something hurtful without meaning to. But--and I know you already know this, but I'm saying it anyway--you should go back. When you've calmed down, I mean, so you're able to talk with a cool, level head.

I agree with Enchan. Of course when you're calmed and feeling better. If he's your friend and important to you... you wouldn't want to leave things like this.

[ Atsushi's words sound a little sad. He knows that feeling well, and he would never wish those feelings upon anyone else. ]

[ they aren't the words weiss wants to hear, but they're probably what she needs. she did want somebody to side with her and talk shit about jaune, but ahe figures she'll probably regret it later.

she takes in a deep breath and sighs. ]

If he even wants to fix things, anyway.

[ there's still some anger and bitterness residing in her but she's mostly calmed down. her devastation from her apology being rejected has passed, evidenced by the lack of rain cloud above her head. it's time to start distracting herself again!! she started if off by pointing out that en doesn't look old, but it seemed like too sensitive a subject than what she had in mind.

(she was hoping it would be funny!) ]

So, were you two doing something before I came?

[ I heard he got in with forged transcripts. He's probably dumb. Also, he's a blond, so................. ]

You said, "I got into a fight with a friend." Friends naturally want to fix things. It's just that... sometimes, one or both parties involved are... bad at fixing things. Some people let it sit and they stew for a while, and by the time they're not angry anymore they feel too awkward to go apologize. Then there are others who are afraid of rocking the boat and decide to give the other person some space until they come apologize, except that might never happen. Just because they're your friend doesn't make it easy to apologize, or even to accept an apology for that matter.

[ With his mouth in a firm frown, he glances at Weiss. Watching her body language, gauging her expression. ]

Ah, we weren't doing anything important.

[ Besides, if he told Weiss, she'd just roll her eyes, probably. More importantly, though: ]

You do know the three of us are friends, right? So we'll always have your back.

[ Atushsi comes walking back into the living room with two cups of tea in hand. He was listening to En and couldn't help but feel that half of his examples were about himself and Kinshirou, but he didn't want to bring it up.

He gently set his own cup down while handing Weiss's to her with a soft smile. ]

Mm. No matter what, we'll always have your back, Weiss-chan.

[ well, she has no idea what jaune is like when it comes to apologies. it's not like they were particularly close. they're just friends, and weiss has been pushing him away because she feels left behind by ruby and the remains of jnpr.

she looks away as far as possible just so en can't make eye contact with her. he's right and she knows it. being wrong is annoying, though. she hates it when people say the right things! (she'll sober up eventually and come into terms with this issue, at least.) ]

I don't like this. [ in a way, she surrenders herself to the situation even if she's verbally protesting. she'll just. give jaune a day or two and maybe try to talk to him again.

she tries to feign a smile when atsushi hands her a cup of tea, but it's a bit too subtle for it to look genuine. ]

[ Although she looks away from him, En keeps his gaze locked onto her until Atsushi gives her the tea before finally casting his gaze upward toward the ceiling. ]

Nobody likes fighting with their friends. It sucks.

[ En remembers quite vividly the things he said to Atsushi... what was it, nearly a year ago by now? He hadn't meant to say them, but he had and he will never be able to take the words back. Even so, in the end, he apologized profusely to Atsushi, and he imagines that if Weiss was wrong, she'll do the same. But En also knows things aren't always black and white, and maybe they were both wrong, or there was a misunderstanding, or--a whole plethora of possibilities, really. Still, he feels like an apology should happen from one of them. ]

...Thanks for trusting us, by the way. I'm sure you wouldn't admit that kind of thing to just anyone since it's personal, so... I'm glad you trust us.

[ Or at least trusts Atsushi. ]

[ Atsushi slowly moves past En and goes to sit down between Weiss and En. For him it was the most comfortable spot in the room right now, right between his two close friends. ]

Now I wonder what we could say to bring a smile onto Weiss's face. it has to be something really good. With a lot of oomph you know?

[ she does trust atsushi, moreso than she does en, but... it's a step towards becoming better friends! it's not like she and en can be good friends if they don't know anything about each other. the only reason why it comes out as a question than a statement because she isn't sure what exactly she's supposed to say to being thanked that way??

when atsushi takes a seat, she moves to lean on his arm then takes a sip of the tea. ]

I'm not sure, either. But there really doesn't need to be anything.

I think actions speak louder than words, anyway.

[ He was going to drape an arm around Atsushi and use his shoulder as a pillow, as per usual, but it'd be awkward with Weiss leaning on Atsushi from the other side. And now he feels embarrassed feeling a little jealous, especially since he's supposed to be cheering Weiss up, not feeling bummed out he can't use Atsushi as a pillow.

Sharing is tough. So he folds his arms on his knees and rests his cheek against his arms. ]

Ah, but maybe that's because I can't think of anything with an "oomph."

[ it's a mystery if Atsushi actually realized that En was feeling jealous or not, but when En didn't lean on him like he had expected, Atsushi wrapped his free arm around En's shoulder's instead and just relaxed into the couch. ]

I can't really either. I can't even come up with a good joke either.

[ weiss isn't going to demand anything from them, not when they've been so hospitable. she'll take what she can get! ]

There really doesn't have to be anything. You two can continue what you were doing before I came and I'll just... hang around.

Atsushi, please.

[ As if Atsushi is good at telling jokes. Sorry, Atsushi. He appreciates Atsushi's astuteness, but he's still embarrassed and so his coffee is steaming excessively because of it. ]

We were talking about food on and off while reading. Probably not the most exhilarating conversation, but if you feel like sharing your thoughts on chikuwabu or something... actually, what do you think of something that's a staple ingredient but has no flavor of its own, only existing to absorb the flavors of other ingredients?

[ Someone stop him. ]

[ He's just trying to be a good host, Enchan. Why must you always put down his attempts. ]

[ En. En. Why must you ask all of our friends about their feelings of Chikuwabu? Atsushi couldn't help but snort softly to himself shifting to cover his mouth with his hands. He didn't want to be rude after all. ]

[ weiss immediately regrets making them go back to talking.

there's a soft and rather long "uuuuhhhh" that comes from weiss, because how is she supposed to know these things??? ]

I don't know what a chiku-whatever is, and I don't... really cook, so. [ she shifts so she can lean at the other end of the couch instead. this is making her feel dumb. ]
